Awards season rolls on today with the Producers Guild of America revealing the documentary nominees for its 37th annual awards in February and finalists for its 2026 Innovation Award.

Contending for the statuette are HBO Documentary Films’ My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay and The Alabama Solution, Netflix’s The Perfect Neighbor and Cover-Up, National Geographic’s The Tale of Silyan and Ocean with David Attenborough and Mr. Nobody Against Putin from Made in Copenhagen.

The winner will be honored during the 2026 Producers Guild Awards on Saturday, February 28, at the Fairmont Century Plaza.

The Tale of Silyan, about a North Macedonian man who nurses an injured stork back to health, won Best Feature at the IDA Documentary Awards over the weekend. The Perfect Neighbor, about a white woman in Florida who shot a Black neighbor through her front door, won Best Feature and four other Critics Choice Documentary Awards last month.

My Mom Jayne, Hargitay’s loving look at her late mother, was a hit at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The Alabama Solution follows incarcerated men working expose a cover-up in one of America’s deadliest prison systems. Mr. Nobody Against Putin follows a distinctly contrarian elementary school videographer in Russia. And Ocean with David Attenborough, narrated by the nonagenarian legend, spotlights the threats to Earth’s oceans.

Among the potential Oscar contenders missing from the doc noms list are Apocalypse in the Tropics, The Six Billion Dollar ManDiane Warren: RelentlessPut Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk and Becoming Led Zeppelin, among others.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story took the PGA Awards for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures at the 2025 Producers Guild Awards in February. That film failed to make the Oscar feature documentary shortlist.

The Producers Guild today also announced the finalists for its PGA Innovation Award, which recognizes significant accomplishments in the application of emerging technology. Vying for that award are Asteroid from Doug Liman’s 30 Ninjas and Google’s 100 Zeros, Big Wave: No Room for Error (Cosm), D-Day: The Camera Soldier (Targo/Time Studios), Territory (Double Eye Studios/Kinetic Light) and The Wizard of Oz at Sphere (Sphere Entertainment Company).

That winner will be revealed during a pre-awards ceremony reception on Thursday, February 26, in Los Angeles.

“Across all categories, the Producers Guild Awards celebrate the vital job of producing, and the noteworthy contributions that honorees have made to the industry,” PGA Presidents Stephanie Allain and Donald De Line said in a statement. “The PGA is proud to recognize the extraordinary producers and teams whose work reflects their remarkable dedication and commitment to excellence.”
